One of the Most Beautiful Stores in Amsterdam ♥
Me
Me vienen
For thousands of years, they have been present in our lives. They were usually made or leather. The Romans used them in markets and street performances, in both public and private celebrations, at the circus, at cattle fairs ... The Roman Army used leather tents, copies of ancient civilizations.
Today, most of them are made of linen or cotton; we see them inside and outside the house. The shelter space becomes a magical and intimate space. It is a hiding place and refuge for children and travelers, swimmers, street vendors ... They provide warmth and beauty to beaches, terraces and gardens, to children's rooms and beds ...
I remember the tents on the beach of Cadiz when I was a little girl. I still remember the tolderos at dusk, picking them up when three were no manna peole left at the beach.. I remember the bright colors, the stripes ...
Another things than comes to my mind are the red and white casetas at Seville's cattle fair, and the green and white ones ... and the circus; the flea markets in Berlin during the days of Advent, the flea market of Paris, and the portable homes of nomadic people in India, the portable tents in the Sahara, the tepees of the Apaches. They were the first ones to make them.
They protect us from sun and rain, from cold and heat, from the outside world that, from time to time, we need to get away from... They
